Yes thats correct. Politically Ireland was part of Britain
under the act. However they wouldn't regard themselves
as British. Besides ... my comments
weren't really meant as in their status at that time.
I meant in the meaning of the early comments .
. The British army in this war was made up of 1/3 Irish.

There may of been meany Irish men who may not regard them self as British, but there government was British, there laws were British, there head of state was British.they were technically born Irish British. so like the Scots & Welsh who also were part of a great British army of the day so were the Irish. and the with the English they all made a fabulous fighting foe that was in my mind the best of its day
I'm hearing a lot of Brits compliment themselves on how awesome their empire used to be. Blucher won Waterloo. The British Camped on a hill. Napoleon did not have what he usually would have had in regards to his army, especially when he had to send some of his force to chase Blucher. All this is coming from an American
