Sherlock Holmes -The Empty House
Watching this, I'm truly reminded of why I still consider
'The Empty
House' the most utterly heart-warming story
in the Canon, and indeed
also one of the most tender,
touching texts I've ever had the pleasure
of reading.
Brett and Hardwicke were absolutely incredible in their
roles. Legendary, even.
Surely, the reunion scene between Watson and
Holmes
is a beautiful one and I cannot wait to see its like
played out
again in the upcoming third series
of the BBC's 'Sherlock.' I'm sure the
inspired
pairing of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman
will bring
all those emotions forth with absolute
clarity and do complete justice
to the legacy
of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work.Of course, if you read the books, ( no, seriously do, they are even
better. Also available as audiobooks.) there are really only two
people
in the world that Holmes actually gives a damn about - Mycroft, and to a
much larger extent,
Watson. This is evidenced in "The Three Garridebs".
The TV episode was totally different to the book, because Brett was
ill, and Charles Gray took over the case as Mycroft.
But if you read the
book, you really do find exactly how Holmes cared deeply for Watson. ===================================================
