Things We Said Today - The Beatles

"Things We Said Today" was recorded on June 2, 1964 for
the Beatles' upcoming film "Hard Days Night".
The song wasn't included in the movie, but it did make
the album although it never made
the Top 40
as a single release.
It was composed solely by Paul McCartney,
although credited to both McCartney and Lennon,
and was derived from Paul's then
on-going relationship with Jane Asher..

This is "The Night Before" scene
 from the Beatles' second movie,
HELP!.
This is the first
YouTube upload of "The Night Before"
in which
the whole songs plays through
seamlessly against the video,
without the clip from "She's a Woman"
(in the movie, when Clang sets
the dynamite aflame) or any screw-ups.
This is my favorite Beatles song. Enjoy

"She's a Woman"

My love don't give me presents.
I know that she's no peasant,
only ever has to give me love forever and forever,
my love don't give me presents,
turn me on when I get lonely,
people tell me that she's only
foolin', I know she isn't. *To end, second time only*
She don't give the boys the eye,
she hates to see me cry,
she is happy just to hear me say
that I will never leave her.
She don't give the boys the eye,
she will never make me jealous,
gives me all her time as well as lovin',
don't ask me why.

She's a woman who understands.
She's a woman who loves her man. *verse 1
She's a woman, she's a woman
=============================

"She's a Woman" is a song by The Beatles.

It was released as the B-side
to "I Feel Fine" in 1964, their last single release that year.
It reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100
from frequent airplay.

The song, penned by Paul McCartney
(though credited to Lennon/McCartney),
was his attempt at imitating the vocal style of Little Richard.
This is why the song is in such a high register,
even for McCartney's tenor range.

Some takes of the song
(especially recordings of live concerts)
feature an extended outro.

The lyrics "turn me on,", were as John Lennon was quoted saying, "so excited to say 'turn me on' — you know, about marijuana and all that... using it as an expression."

The structure of the song is fairly simple, with the melody carried mostly by McCartney's voice.
His bass and a backing piano produce a countermelody, with Lennon's and George Harrison's guitars playing chords on the backbeat.
During the first verse, the piano also plays chords on the upbeats. Harrison also plays a bright guitar solo during the middle eight.

John is, of course, playing the LEAD guitar
on Long Tall Sally, as he always does,
but the camera is on George
during the Lead Break because
the camera operators and
production people are not wise to the fact.
